Having visited the Museum of Power on 7th October, we decided very quickly on a subject for the assignment. The chosen model was the Joseph Evan's reliable Steam Pump:
Primary reasons why we chose this model was at firstly because of the bright attractive colours. Although this machine is not particularly large in size, it is a nice size to model in 3D Studio Max. When we looked deeper, we became aware that there were four main sections that made the machine. Stuart will be handling the green segment on the right hand side. Tom will be handling the metalic section with the gauge on the left. Richard will be focussing on the wheel and the next section of animation towards the middle of the model. Aaron will be focussing on the base platform, model base and the front two animated segments.
Over the coming weeks, the team will be working on individual sections of the pump. We predict that within two weeks we will have the modelling aspects complete, and will bring everything together so that textures can be applied. Textures should take approximately one week to finalise, where we will then be able to spend the remaining weeks working on the animation.
